Performance Record Portability
Download the paper focused on performance record portability.
How is performance impacted when a firm is acquired, a portfolio management team leaves, or when the firm’s legal structure changes?
The ability of a portfolio manager, a portfolio management team, or an entire firm to bring historical performance records to a new firm or affiliation is called performance record portability. Firms that comply with the GIPS® standards must be familiar with both the relevant portability requirements and all local laws and regulations that may apply regarding portability.
While the GIPS standards are succinct in relation to portability requirements, the interpretation of portability is rarely straightforward and may involve subjective interpretation of events.
